Nesongozwi Mining Corporation has applied for a prospecting right to prospect for Copper and Platinum Group Metals on the farms Hennopsriver 489 JQ, Roodekraans 492 JQ and Vlakplaats 354 JQ.

The Department of Minerals and Energy (DME) accepted this application in August 2008, reference number GP 30/5/1/1/2/453PR.

A public participation process began then and the company submitted an environmental management plan (EMP) which is readily available for public viewing.

The company has since withdrawn its application on the farm Hennopsriver 489 JQ as that property is a nature reserve. The company will proceed with its application for the 2 remaining farms.
 

Nesongozwi Mining assert that their emails serve as part of the consultative processes "that began last year and will continue between the DME, Nesongozwi Mining as well as the community around the proposed project area".

They say that at the public meeting we "will be given a platform to raise questions, queries and concerns regarding the proposed project. All concerns will be noted down, minutes of the meeting will be sent to registered IAPs and then Nesongozwi Mining Corporation will produce a response document with responses to all questions raised at the meeting".

Their correspondence continues, "We are aware that the community has not been happy with the consultative process thus far and we would like to correct the mistakes this time around."

After much confusion and withdrawn dates, the public meeting is now scheduled as follows:
